The Zipper Upper
Product description: A common problem that women face is zipping up the back of their dresses by themselves. To mediate this problem, I would create a device that hooked a long stick to the dress zipper so the zipper could easily be pulled up. The stick would be adjustable so that it can be different lengths to account for different heights. It would also have interchangeable hooks that would account for different size zippers. This product would be sold at supercenters such as Target and Walmart.
Market: There is a huge potential market for this product. The target market would be women 18 years and older. I would specifically target professional women and single moms as they have the highest potential of putting dresses on when no one is around to help zip the dress up.
Benefits to customers: With this product, the customer would be able to zip up her dress without depending on someone to be there to help her.
Competitors: There are no key competitors in the market; therefore the product by nature would be differentiated.
Financial issues: The product would be easy to design and build. Therefore I predict low manufacturing costs. I believe customers would not want to spend more than $10 on the product. The most cost would come from advertising the product so customers know it exists.
There are no current resources at the moment.
Chuck Pell: "Competitors: There are no key competitors in the market; therefore the product by nature would be differentiated." The product is over 100 years old or so. Came into being almost as soon as zippers were widespread on women's clothes. There are some that are just for boots, too.

Jeff Snell: I swore this was an existing product until I went to look and I can't find any. So might just work...
