I have several contacts that are aspiring songwriters. I have decided to combine my Industry contacts/experience with a technology offering that will allow individuals to create (hopefully using a simple converted iPhone APP, Pro Chords), manage, collaborate, publish and pitch these songs to the professional industry. I would like this site to remain FREE to users generating revenue in other formats; i.e. ads...!!! At some future point in the life-cycle I would also like this to tie in to an existing business I have to leverage all of the related contacts and services I can bring to the table for members.

By leveraging the Pro Chords app, or similar concept, not only would we be facilitating a streamlined approach to quality songwriting, but also teaching people the concepts, advanced at that, of music theory. Using the intuitive design of the app, which takes into account 9000+ commercially successful songs over decades of music, the core principles are realized even if by accident just from "playing around" creating your own songs. Your ears will begin to develop to the point that you can actually hear what should come next by way of theory... not limited by your instrumentation capabilities, recording configuration or well anything else.

Garot Conklin: I was thinking about this on my ride home last night... it would be fun to have this setup for multiple roles... i.e. songwriter, lyricist, producer, instrumentalist or whatever your needs maybe, hmmm kind of like how its done here.. (LOL).. then be able to create (the project owner) an audition announcement for people to audition for a specific part to complete the collective. This would allow a complete song to be created... There are obviously a number of elements that would need to be employed to facilitate this, but I am still just brainstorming nifty ideas... I encourage everyone else to do that as well...

Things I would like to see (some of this may be totally ridiculous... :)): - contests with member voting - Recording/Manufacturing packages - BLOG to educate the community on the inner-workings of this industry - Industry input and/or preferred membership from large Publishing Houses; i.e. BMI, ASCAP, SESAC, etc... - Feedback from top songwriters in the industry - A view vs. compose layout for members, so a dual-membership model.

Resources Needed

Web Development
Aside from hosting, which can certainly begin on home-spun or FREE builder sites, I will need web developers to tie everything together; i.e. design, architecture, etc...

Application Development
I have a prospect in this area for the main writing app/tool, however additional development on the back-end will also be required; i.e. database, auth(LDAP), design, etc...

Promotions
People who can network this site to the general population.

Marketing/Advertising
Ads and other revenue generating sources.

Project Management Assistant(s)
Aside from the general/specific direction I will provide, I would also like to engage individuals capable of coordinating multiple aspects of this plan based on some degree of related experience.

Legal
To cover the gambit of issues expected and otherwise.
