Brandon Richard: I was thinking starting out with just ad revenue but once it has a decent amount of users changing to a subscription model.

As students progress through their college years many end up moving off campus. Upon this transition they face the daily challenge of how to travel to campus. Some are lucky and live within walking distance. While some universities have extensive bus routes often times student find the bus schedules to be too infrequent or inefficient for his or her schedule. Also, parking is notoriously limited or expensive on college campuses.

My idea is a website that allows students living off campus as well as commuter students to input his or her schedule and address into an automated system that will match him or her with others in need of transportation. The system will match students who live in a close proximity and need to go to campus at similar times with each other. Students with cars could be matched with students needing rides and all parties involved could pitch in to purchase a parking pass. Splitting a parking pass with others will greatly decrease the personal burden. This website could also provide forums and interactive maps where commuters can post the best ways they’ve found to get to campus from their respective location and the time it takes to travel via different methods. This will make it easy for students off campus to analyze all of their options in one convenient place as well as collaborate with other students. On top of the convenience factor carpooling can help save with gas costs. Another feature could be a student run taxi service. If a student finds him or herself in a time crunch or stuck somewhere in the rain he or she could log on to the website and find fellow students willing to give him or her a ride for a small fee. This could potentially employee college students while also servicing college students.

Jeff Snell: The revenue model and projections need to be further defined. There appears to be a viable market and it would seem that it can be scaled.
